Quick and Easy Sautéed Mushrooms (video)

Simple Sautéed Mushrooms

Equipment

  • 1 large sauté pan

Ingredients

  • 8 oz baby Bella mushrooms See video for how to clean properly
  • 1-2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 shishito or jalapeño pepper sliced, (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt or salt to taste

Instructions

  • Use a damp paper towel to clean the mushrooms
  • Cut mushrooms into large bite-size pieces
  • Bring stove to medium-high heat then drizzle extra virgin olive oil into a large sauté pan
  • Allow the oil to heat for a minute prior to adding the sliced pepper
  • After about a minute, add the mushrooms (don't overcrowd!)
  • Keep them moving by tossing or stirring them to avoid burning

Notes

Using medium high heat allows the liquid to cook off quick enough to achieve the golden-brown color. 
Pepper is optional. Remember, if you add the pith and/or seeds, it increases the spice!
